Gateshead Wildlife Group is a friendly group of people who share an interest in wildlife. We are one of the local groups of the Durham and Northumberland Wildlife Trusts.
From September to April we meet on the first Wednesday of the month at 7.15 pm. The illustrated talks last about 40 minutes and are followed by coffee/tea and biscuits plus lots of talk! We have expert speakers on a wide range of issues including plants, mammals, birds, insects and fungi. Our focus is on wildlife in the North East, but we also have speakers on wildlife in other areas of the UK and other countries. Our membership ranges from those with a high level of expertise, to those who have just begun to take an interest in wildlife. There are plenty of opportunities to chat with other members over refreshments.
In summer we have field trips, led by an expert, to local nature reserves and other places of interest. The days / times vary.
New members and visitors are welcome to join us.
Our annual subscription fee is £6. The fee for visitors attending winter meetings is £2. Summer field trips are free.
